ACTICO acquires the business rules management software Visual Rules from Bosch Software Innovations, opening up new customer segments // New opportunities for automation and artificial intelligence

Immenstaad, 17 December 2019 – The year ends on a positive note for ACTICO and the users of business rules management (BRM) software Visual Rules. Bosch Software Innovations sold the Visual Rules software to ACTICO GmbH in mid-December 2019. On 1 January, the leading providers of intelligent automation and business decision management solutions will not only become the owners of the software rights but will also move into new customer segments by taking over existing customers.

ACTICO’s decision was influenced by the innovative nature of the software, the company’s in-depth knowledge of the product and its resulting ability to seamlessly take over other aspects of Visual Rules, such as support and maintenance.

ACTICO is no stranger to Bosch Software Innovations: some of the owners of ACTICO GmbH were involved in setting up Bosch Software Innovations GmbH, where they shared responsibility for developing the Visual Rules software. After a management buy-out, Bosch Financial Software GmbH became ACTICO in 2015. It worked on developing part of the BRM software and used it to build its own digital decisioning software based on intelligent automation – ACTICO Platform. It quickly became an established tool and currently has in excess of 50,000 users in more than 35 countries.

ACTICO’s CEO Thomas Cotic comments: “We are delighted with the trust that Bosch Software Innovations has placed in us. Our expertise in intelligent automation and digital decisioning has put us on the path to success, and it goes without saying that we are keen to pursue this path alongside our new Visual Rules customers and partners. We believe this expansion of our customer portfolio is an excellent opportunity to go beyond the financial sector and push ahead with automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning in many other segments. Exciting times lie ahead.”

New customer segments

To date, ACTICO’s main focus has been on the financial sector, but the acquisition of Visual Rules now means it can expand its customer portfolio into other segments, including:

  • Retail
  • Power supply
  • Telecommunications
  • Digital payments
  • Industry 4.0
  • Automotive
  • Government
Visual Rules – software for decision making

Nowadays, companies are faced with vast quantities of data. They have to be able to view, categorize and utilize it, but it is almost impossible for human data to work at the required speed and deliver insights in real time. Yet this is vital if companies are to respond flexibly to the fast-changing needs of customers and consumers. Visual Rules is a business rules management (BRM) software that provides data visibility and digital decisioning by enabling IT experts to create intelligent, flexible business rules in collaboration with users in relevant fields. The visual representation of this process makes it easier to model, manage and execute the rules. The decisions made by the software are totally transparent and explainable to all users.
